OBX 2017 Part 1

Earlier this year my brother in law and sister in law mentioned to us that they would be traveling over the 4th of July and asked if wanted to join. We typically do a big beach trip with family but with the way everyone's work schedules have played out we haven't been able to travel with Kris and Mels since Max was a baby. We wanted the boys to start making memories with their cousin so we jumped at the chance to spend time with them this summer. Add in another 7 of our dearest friends and their little ones and we had ourselves a wild group ready to tackle the Outer Banks.

Typically we leave at 3am and drive all the way through but this year we decided to leave a day early and stay over night on the way. Maxwell was PUMPED about this hotel stay.

Friday car loaded and ready to head out! PS- The amount of stuff a mini van can hold is astounding !

Our typical stop at Chic Fila
Matt was OVER the kids movies and since the boys aren't a fan of headphones , Daddy listened to his podcasts while I listened to Monsters Inc

Now here is where we made a HUGE mistake. We drove for 8 hours which was great and the kids did great. We got to the hotel and they were happy jumping on the bed and playing. For some reason we decided going to a sit down meal and forcing them to sit still again was a good idea. #Iblamelackofsleep
We had about 3 minutes of peace at Red Robin before my children became " those" kids at the restaurant. Crying , whining , pretending to vomit after a bite of food....you get the idea. I drug them out, yes you read that right. Matt paid our bill and left a full Captain and Diet if that tells you how bad it was ha. We returned to the hotel, all said " I am sorry" and got our tears out ( mama included ) then hit up the indoor pool to redeem our night.

My husband had researched the area and found a great indoor trampoline park to go to the next morning before we hopped back in the car! It was called Jumpology ( Richmond, VA ) and was the best one I have ever been too! The boys had a blast. We played for awhile , met up with the Estes' at Chic Fila then headed to the beach!

So glad Matt suggested we split the trip up mainly because of Saturday. The last leg of our drive should of been just around 2 hours but thanks to traffic into the area it took us close to 4. We pulled in , unloaded the car and immediately hit the pool!

Maxwell had been talking about ONE thing for months and one thing alone.....bunk beds. And not just for him and Z but for the whole Hampton family! When we all sat down and looked at the layout of the house it just made sense for us to get this room. It worked out fine.....although next year I do want a TV in my room ;) I got nervous about Z being on a top bunk so we had sleep on a bottom and I slept on the blow up mattress. Matt and I were not about to trust a top bunk from 1992 to hold either of us!

Since I have overloaded you already I will leave Part 1 here....especially since the next day included a trip to get stitches !
