Happy Tuesday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had every intention of blogging yesterday but it was a whirlwind.... childcare rearranging , client rearranging , shuttling kids , tornado warnings and late night basketball. I am tired all over again just reading that :)
I love seeing how families do things so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon and share how we do somethings! I am always so curious how families budget for certain things and I love learning ways to save myself! Today I am going to share a little bit about how we do the grocery each month!!
First off some facts.... We feed a family of 6. This is for an average of 5 dinners and all breakfast/lunches. We order pizza 1-2 times a week and maybe do a drive thru once a week or every 2 weeks.
Weekly
Matt goes to Kroger once a week for us. We look at our calendar for the week and figure out how many nights we will be in to cook and meal plan based on that. Even if we aren't cooking a big meal we plan to make sure we have what we need to throw easy things together for the kids at night.
Average Weekly Kroger bill is $175. Considering the rise in grocery cost I feel pretty good about this!
Monthly
About once every 2-3 weeks we go to Sams and Costco. Yes we have both ! I am convinced all the brands of the world got together and decided to screw over the American mom and split themselves between the 2 stores! Thankfully my mom loves these stores to so she pays for one and we pay for the other! A great way to get access to both stores! Over the years my frequency to each store has changed based on our needs. Right now I am hardcore Sams. The only thing I get regularly at Costco is chicken sausage. Matt loves him a spreadsheet so he has done some research and find the things we get at Sam's to be significantly cheaper than buying them at a typical grocery store !
We spend about $200 a month at Sams. Mind you , some of these things last for a few months so we aren't buying them monthly!
Here are some things you can find us buying !
Andrew is obsessed with these and I haven't found them anywhere else! Each can makes 8 rolls which feeds him and Trevor for days!!!
Hi , my name is Laci and I use way too many paper towels! Therefore these seem like a steal!
Less than $1 a box ?? These often have an instore coupon which takes them even cheaper!!
I became obsessed with this during football season!
We can go through 3 of these a week so we are trying to be more mindful !
Maxwell considers goldfish a food group!
This price blows my mind! At Kroger an 8 counts is $4! 40 packs for $9??? Steal!
I have been experimenting with which detergent I like and have been happy with this one!
Matt's morning addiction! This is a better deal than kroger or speedway!
I go back and forth between Sams and Costco Wipes. Both are comparable in price and are the best !
Again with the comparison 18oz is 3 something at Kroger. For a little more than double You're are getting 56 oz !!
These almost always have a coupon too!!
This is one of those prices that always blows Matt's mind ! Kroger is 5.99 for a 2lb bag! This is an 8lb bag for 3 bucks more!!!!!
So I bought these to donate to the school for a teacher event. Then on that event my kids were sick so we ended up with them and I am so glad! Easy grab and go snack and the price is perfect !
I would love to hear what deals you find at these places and how you budget !!!
